I wouldn't have the foggiest clue how to upgrade the forums anymore - i'm years behind on that lot.

Is the CP absolutely fucked then? Cause i haven't even got the link to it anymore, lol.

Well, we haven't yet pulled the trigger on the facbeook promotion but I am confident that when we do, we will get new people. I would already begin with it but to be honest, I have been watching the Olympics hella so after that...it begins and we shall see.

But again, I can't change any areas if I wanted to...and I do. I tried as soon as I got my admin powers and...nothing. So for once, RC1 is riiight!

Despite it's current activity (and the fact that this might be as good as it gets) I don't see this place being taken down anytime soon. It still pulls in enough advertising money to at the very least pay for its self.

I don't think it will make a difference anyway. I don't really think this place is gonna see any new members any time soon. I don't know if it's the fact that the WWE is starting to suck or if people just don't find this site interesting anymore. No one really talks about sports anymore. I mean, the NFL discussion was the only think being used in the Sports folder. Now it will stay dormant until Baseball season starts up. Only like 3 of us talk about wrestling anymore, that's pretty shitty considering this is a wrestling forum. I don't know, it just seems like 3sw has run it's course and is now just waiting for someone to take it off life support.

That's just my opinion on the matter tho!

We need a government bail out

While it doesn't get much use these days, I would suggest not being so quick to get rid of the gtk folder. If business picks up again, that folder is going to be nice, and we really don't want the everything else folder being flooded with 50 "ask me questions" topics. Porn and CW though are useless threads, maybe bring back CW occasionally for like a forums game or something.

No offense, but it would be stupid to get rid of games. Its a folder that brings people in to have a little fun, and while here make another post or 2 in other areas of the forum.

As I have repeated over and over again over the years Spade but that everyone seems to overlook is that the forum infrastructure is falling apart, the Control Panel doesn't work anyway near well enough to successfully run a forum.

I've offered money to Dan before to help buy an upgrade because until we get some sort of upgrade, hands are tied in many ways. I repeat the offer to Dan and he is welcome to text me and let me know his thoughts, a visual overhaul is needed, but the problem of merging folders would be solved if we updated to a UBB version that allowed you to have subfolders within folders.

Its good to see more feedback on this but it still doesn't change the fact that - as far as I can tell - we can't actually make any changes to this. Unless its just me getting errors when trying to do so? I can change other things but doing that it wont let me.

Boo!

I am all for merging folders and so on if it will help clean up the forums a little. Something needs to be done about the areas that unfortunately don’t get a lot of activity anymore. Although I’d like to hear other people’s opinions on the matter before any major changes are made. I do agree that the wrestling folders should be at the top because this above all else is still a wrestling forum and that would garner the most attention from someone visiting the forums who might think about registering.

Hey all,

I have a few thoughts on the matter so thought I may as well share them.

Firstly, like Daniel said, I think 3SW Feedback should be moved to the bottom of the forum, it's not the first reason a person joins the forum and as such should not be the first thing that a person sees when the site loads.

However I disagree with those who argue for its abolition for a few reasons but primarily because sometimes forum debates and discussions need a focal point and communication through PM can rob the forum as a whole of engaging in the discussion, I think the compromise would be to move it to the bottom of the forum.

With respect to the other folders, clearly wrestling section should be up top and I don't see any need to really alter the three folders, they pretty much cover all that wrestling has to say at the minute.

The Expression area needs a bit of an overall in the nicest possible way. I'm not sure if I came up with the name 'Intellectual Discussion' or not, but the more I think about it, that name makes it sound like it's the only place on the forum to find intelligent conversation and the rest of the forum folders have cavemen saying 'ugg'.

I would suggest that the name should perhaps be changed to something simple and to the point like 'Current Affairs'. I think that sounds a bit better.

Creative Works is a folder that has shown great potential in the past, and indeed has probably experienced the most name changes and revamps of all folders, from its banner testing days, but it could probably be merged in to Everything Else.

Get To Know is a useful folder in a forum that it growing and new members are flooding in all the time, sadly of course, that's not happening. However rather than destroy the concept along with the folder, it might be worth considering moving the GTK threads to 3SW Feedback and renaming it '3SW Related' so not only could feedback be posted there but new posters could announce their arrival there. Just a thought.

Adult Themes should just simply be merged with Everything Else and dumped completely, if people wish as Dan said to post a thread featuring nudity etc then they can put up a notice of some kind.

Hopefully if Everything Else becomes the major folder of the forum like it used to, people may visit it more and thus spot threads in the folder that they may ordinarily miss and thus the possibility to build up posts in that folder could be achieved.

With respect to the other Non-Wrestling Folders, I don't think there are any changes that could or should be made at this point in time, as it gives at least a degree of diversity.

So my recommended new line up would take the shape of:

Wrestling Area:

General Wrestling
World Wrestling Entertainment
Old School Wrestling

Non-Wrestling Area:

Everything Else
Other Sports
Entertainment

Expression Area:

Current Affairs
3SW Feedback

Well there are my ideas, just thought i'd offer them.

our creative folk ie Tipsy and Joe don't write any more. Porn is a waste since the new stuff got lost. It could be great again if Chris would take it over and do his thing.

There are a plethora of good folders on here that aren't being used. Much of it is the fact there ain't much bein' used. We bees in a slump.

I ain't pointin' fingers except at myself. I come around once a week. Hell, I used to spend hours every day on this site.

I thought someone was going to do a fantasy wrestling fed similar to RWA. What happened?

Right now, Ben is keeping the place going. I wish I had some better input. Tipsy, you normally have some decent ideas. Josh, while I may not agree with your ideas, at least you had some original thought. Joe, I know you don't really want to do anything, but you are more than a lump. You used to have some ideas. Chris, you are one of the brightest and best around here. Got any ideas?

Okay. Here's my input for what it is worth: Get someone to do a fantasy fed; if you're going to have porn, fine, just have someone that is willing to put in the time and effort on it, if not, get rid of it; get to know is great if you have an influx of newbies, no need unless we are go to have a membership drive; there are people here qualified to do that; the games seem to be popular and Ben does a good job, leave them alone; I think the feedback is a good folder instead of PMs, because it is a public airing of both grievences and compliments; Joe, you thought I was a terrible admin. While I may or may not agree with that assessment, at least I did things. I had an interest in this place. I didn't want the job. The job was given to me without me seeking it. You actively sought out the job and once you got it, you don't do anything. You're a bright kid. Pull your head out of your ass and do something or resign and let someone else at least try. Now, I will probably find out Joe quit two months ago. If he did, then I apologize for not keeping up.

Saneguy, you're at least making an effort. Good boy. Hate to tell you this, but this place needs more of your help and time.

We've had this folder discussion before. This is a living entity. It grows. It shrinks. Whatever. The folders that just sit there, need to either be revamped with a different moderator that is fired up to make the necessary changes or bin it.

Like I said earlier, if we aren't trying to recruit new members or bring back old ones, there is no need for a get to know me folder.

In Everything Else, the spam folder is the only one that really gets a workout.

Other sports does okay.

Intellectual Debate: Now, here is one that used to get a lot of input and hasn't been touched in two months. Probably needs Chris to throw out a good topic. Maybe Josh can come up with a good argument for the feds to legalize pot.
I don't know. We've got government spending that is way out of hand and they want to spend more. If Congress has its way, we will be Argentina in another generation. You will see massive inflation. Maybe someone can do a topic on that one.

Gone, gone, gone. I've done my time and it's time to move on.

I agree, there's no need to have all these folders that people obviously aren't interested in anymore. Things like Got To Know, Creative Works, Games and Everything Else can easiy be consolidated into one folder. There's really no need for a feedback folder. If we have something to say about how the forum is run or layout, we could always PM the mods. Adult themes is a waste. There's plenty of other places on the web to find porn.

I say keep the focus on wrestling and maybe keep seperate folders for sports and entertainment. I think the ID folder can be saved, but maybe change the name to something like News or Current Events, just to make it clear you don't have to have an actual discussion or debate to post there.

There's too many forums here.

Creative Works & Adult Themes haven't been used since November. I think it's time to move those topics into another folder (ie Everything Else). Adult topics can be marked with a "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) tag.

Over a month since Intellectual Area and Games (probably the forum polar opposites...) have been used. Maybe time to consider moving topics form there soon also.

Finally, no need for feedback to be the top folder anymore either - it looks shit when there's no posts in the top folder. Wrestling is the main focus, and should be top.

Thoughts?
